Since 2005, Sawt el-Amel has engaged in international relations. This decision reflects the organisations commitment to international workers solidarity and the conviction that international actors do have the possibility to increase the impact of Sawt el-Amels work. Activities include publications of reports, including shadow reports to international organisations, joint advocacy campaigns with international partners, all aimed at raising awareness and instigating action to realise Sawt el-Amels objectives.
The specific objectives of the Department are:
To publicise the topics and outcomes of Sawt el-Amels work to the international public through networking, publications, and advocacy;
To increase saliency of issues related to poverty, discrimination and exploitation of Arab citizens of Israel on the international agenda;
To instigate international action towards the improvement of the situation of Sawt el-Amels constituency, such as fact-finding missions or joint advocacy;
To create an international solidarity network of like-minded institutions and individuals for advocacy campaigns and mutual support.
The Public Relations Department targets:
International organisations (ILO, UN bodies, EU institutions) and governments (incl. embassies);
International non-governmental community (labour movement, human rights and development NGOs, mainstream and alternative media);
The global political citizen who forms part of international public opinion.
Sawt el-Amel's Code of Conduct for International Relations
Sawt el-Amel/The Laborer's Voice is a grassroots organisation whose constituency, coming from various social and political backgrounds, is unified by one common goal: work and social security for Palestinian Arabs in Israel.
Our international work is driven by the principles of solidarity and cooperation among workers, among women, among peoples, among humankind.
Therefore, Sawt el-Amel seeks correspondence and joint activities with all members of the international community who share these common goals and principles, be it trade unions, human rights and development NGOs or independent grassroots movements.
Moreover, Sawt el-Amel is open to exchange communication related to our work with all international actors who have a potential influence on the situation of our constituency, including representatives of governments and the media, notwithstanding their political and economic views.
In order to remain independent, Sawt el-Amel's fundraising strategy is designed to establish funding partnerships with a variety of donors who contribute either to the organisation as a whole or to a single department or project.
Sawt el-Amel's international work includes advocacy, networking, joint action and campaigning.
All relations are conducted in the spirit of international solidarity.
